Stone Well Bodies and Equipment, Inc. 625 Sills Road Genoa, New York (315) 497- 3512 |
How do I go about ordering a body, trailer or cap? The first thing to do is go to our Recent Deliveries Page and start looking at rigs that we have built for previous customers. From that page you will find links to pages that will display exterior and interior views of every rig that we have produced starting in 2006 and continuing on into 2007. This is a powerful resource, and it acts as our "rig catalog". There are literally hundreds of different rigs to view, and you will likely see a design that will get you started. If you see a particular rig that you like, save that page in your "favorites" or jot down the serial number for future reference. Next, visit our How To Order Page. You will find several downloadable documents that will assist you in the planning process. Of course, please feel free to call us at any time, and we will discuss your objectives with you. We can then generate an estimate based upon your requirements. Can Stone Well build a non-standard unit? Yes, within reason, of course. Our standard units are based upon time-tested designs that are field-proven, but they can be customized to fit your individual requirements. We do build custom units that are the result of many hours of careful planning and execution, and they are priced accordingly. Can one body fit different makes of trucks? Yes, as long as you stay with the same type of truck chassis. Longbed to longbed, shortbed to shortbed, etc. Please note that Caps with full slide-in bases that are designed for a particular year, make and truck bed style may not fit newer truck beds of the same make and model as accurately as the original application. They will still function correctly, but the overall appearance of your unit may be affected. My next truck will be larger (or smaller). Can I have my current Stone Well truck body made into a trailer? Yes. Body to Trailer Conversions are available to customers who are changing truck chassis sizes, or otherwise wish to make their current unit more flexible. Do I have to come to New York to have the unit installed, or to pick up the trailer? We prefer that you come to our Genoa Facility to take delivery, if at all possible. We do have arrangements with a few regional locations that will install your cap or body for you. We do ship units to various destinations around the world. However, there are several good reasons to take delivery in Genoa. The best reason is that you will receive personal attention down to the smallest detail on your unit before it leaves our manufacturing facility. Customers who have their units shipped to them miss out on this valuable experience. You will meet the craftsmen who proudly built your unit for you. Rest assured that they will give the utmost attention to every detail of your installation. Can I buy a truck from Stone Well? We are not in the truck sales business. We do have good connections with Ford, Chevy and Dodge dealers, especially if you are considering ordering one. You can have a new chassis drop-shipped to Stone Well for body installation. What is the best truck to put a body on? We have built units to fit everything from a golf cart to a Perterbilt chassis. Find a truck that you like to drive. We have found that the most popular truck is a 3/4 ton pickup. Give us a call if you would like to discuss this subject, and we can help you make a decision. Can I bring my current rig to be outfitted? Yes. Just give us a call to set up an appointment. We work on all types of rigs. We also design and build Custom Trailer Interiors. Can I simply order equipment or accessories? Yes. We ship via UPS every business day, and we ship larger items via common carrier. What is the average weight of an empty unit? Full-size bodies generally weigh in at 800 pounds. A full-size cap is 350 pounds. Our standard trailers are 1,500 pounds. Please note that these figure do not reflect the total finished weight with optional interior features and equipment added. How much do most people spend for a completed body or trailer with a full interior? Most of our customers spend between $5,000 and $6,000 on a cap unit, between $10,000 and $12,000 on a truck body, and between $13,000 and $15,000 on a trailer. Keep in mind that these are average figures, and will vary depending upon your specifications. Please contact us for a more specific quotation. What are my choices for financing a new unit? Cash, personal checks, Visa and MasterCard are accepted forms of payment. You may secure a loan from your local bank or credit union by contacting their commercial loan officer. You may also be able to finance a new body along with a new truck through a truck dealer. Please feel free to call us. We will be happy to talk with you about your needs. We will do our best to provide honest and accurate answers to any questions that you may have. Thank You!
