Stonewell Bodies is a textbook example of a business that began with a better idea. While working as an AFA Certified Farrier, Brent H. Chidsey began thinking about ways to improve his efficiency and working environment. Drawing upon his experience as a farrier and applying his skills in metalworking, Brent built a highly specialized truck body for his own use in August of 1994.
Brent's new rig caught the attention of the farrier community. He was soon asked if he would build another unit like it for an associate, and Brent delivered. Other requests followed and, before long, the response was overwhelming. Brent was faced with a big decision. He ultimately elected to pursue the aluminum fabrication business full-time. Brent set up shop in his barn on the Stonewell farm in Genoa, NY and Stonewell Bodies was born.
The business grew rapidly. Employees and manufacturing equipment were added as demand continued to increase beyond all expectations. Some of the largest equipment exceeded the capacity of the barn and had to be run at a remote location. After five years of hard work and dedication, the business had outgrown the barn, and it was time for another big decision. In 1999, the company built a modern, 11,500-square-foot manufacturing facility. In the summer of 2005, a 6,000-square-foot extension was added.
In 2010, Luigi Sposito and Todd Mix purchased Stonewell Bodies from Brent. Luigi and Todd have over 32 years of combined experience in manufacturing, operations, and customer service.
Today, there are thousands of Stonewell units at work across the country and around the world. The company remains committed to Brent's original goal of providing the highest-quality and longest-lasting products -- for farriers, veterinarians, and a host of other industries. We look forward to the opportunity to meet your needs...and exceed your expectations.
